    Welding Frequently Asked Questions

How does GN ensure the quality of welding work?

GN Corp makes a quality-first commitment focusing on cultivating long-term relationships with our partners and customers. This commitment is how we’ve built a positive reputation over our decades of operations.

Additionally, we are CWB Certified for fabrication and welded steel components, which imparts confidence in our production and quality assurance processes.

Our quality control processes involve both machine vision inspection and individual inspection from our experienced quality control engineers. We take pride in every project's quality, which will be apparent after your first order.

What is your turnaround time for completing welding projects?

Turnaround times for our welding services vary based on the project's scope, including the chosen type of welding, materials used, and total project quantity. Before we get to work, the process begins by providing you with a comprehensive quote that describes the turnaround time and costs. You’ll be aware of the turnaround time specific to your project before we begin.

Do you have any experience with welding projects in our specific industry or sector?

GN Corp has experience in a range of industries with strict requirements for welding projects. We’re ready to take on high-precision, high-durability projects within nearly any industry. GN Corp has worked with clients in the following industries:

If you are in a different industry, we may still be able to handle your project. In addition, the requirements of the above industries are often applicable to others, allowing us to likely be capable of handling your project.

What are the advantages of TIG welding over other types of welding?

TIG (tungsten inert gas) uses a non-consumable electrode responsible for delivering the welding arc. TIG has the unique ability to soft start and soft stop the heat, allowing for better control of the arc, and typically produces better results than other types of welding.

This specialized type of welding is generally used for precision welds or joining specific metals together, such as stainless steel, aluminum, nickel alloys, and magnesium. Mild steel may also be used when the joint must be of the highest quality.

Since TIG welding does not use a consumable electrode and uses inert gas, it can produce higher quality and stronger welds than many other types of welding. This advantage is why industries such as aerospace and automotive opt for TIG welding.

What is required to do a successful TIG weld?

A successful TIG weld requires the right equipment and the right experience. In addition, this specialized type of welding is different from other welding methods, making it necessary to prioritize a company with experience in TIG welding.

TIG welding requires moving the torch with consistent forward force while also maintaining a small gap between the electrode and base metal. As you can see, this type of welding is highly specialized and requires specialized training and experience.

What type of machine is used for TIG welding?

A variety of specialized machines are necessary for TIG welding, including:

    • A TIG welding machine
    • Tungsten electrodes
    • Appropriate filler rods may include ER70S-6, ER308, and ER4043 rods for the task at hand.
    • TIG-rated welding masks and other safety devices

TIG machines come in AC and DC models. DC models are suitable for all metals except for aluminum and magnesium alloys. AC models are only suitable for aluminum and magnesium alloys. Any company offering welding services should have both models available for any job.

Additionally, TIG machines come in various sizes, which are suitable for different types of jobs. Jobs that require working with larger materials will require an appropriately sized machine.
